A journey into genius: Back in 2018, violinist Daniel Hope first embarked on his »Journey to Mozart« – a musical adventure into the world of one of history’s greatest composers. Now he returns with a fresh take on the project, exploring the timeless brilliance of Mozart’s music, which, as Hope puts it, has »something celestial, untouchable, almost unsurpassed – and yet he was so human.«
In this new edition, Hope once again lets Mozart’s contemporaries join the conversation. Alongside well-known figures like Joseph Haydn and Christoph Willibald Gluck, the programme also features a violin concerto by one of the most extraordinary musicians of the era: Joseph Bologne. The son of a French nobleman and an enslaved woman from Guadeloupe, Bologne rose to fame during the French Revolution as a violin virtuoso, composer and master swordsman in the Légion des Américains et du Midi.
