Tango as an art form, as a way of life—and as a musical reinvention: With his »Tango Nuevo,« Astor Piazzolla created a musical language all his own, in which tradition and modernity are uniquely intertwined. Piazzolla’s music tells of his hometown, Buenos Aires, of longing, new beginnings, and urban melancholy.
In this concert, the two exceptional musicians Daniel Arias (cello) and Emiliano Ramniceanu (piano) devote themselves entirely to the multifaceted oeuvre of the Argentine master. With great intensity and stylistic mastery, they present a program of great expressiveness, rhythmic energy, and poetic tonal nuances. Their finely tuned interplay, shaped by their shared Venezuelan heritage, lends the performance a special vitality.
The program centers on famous works such as »Libertango,« »Oblivion,« and »Le Grand Tango,« which have long since become classics. In addition, the suite »Histoire du Tango« and the three »Ángel« pieces feature impressive compositions that showcase Piazzolla’s unmistakable signature in all its facets: from raw authenticity to melancholic intimacy to explosive expressiveness.
