Following the huge success of the performance of Gustav Mahler’s Second Symphony to mark the 100th anniversary of the German Association of Amateur Orchestras (BDLO) in 2024, the BDLO’s Northern Regional Association – Federal Association of Amateur Symphony and Chamber Orchestras – is now returning with another monumental work: Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
For this extraordinary project, the best musicians from 110 member orchestras of the BDLO North are coming together to form a large ensemble. Together with alto soloists, a women’s choir, and a boys’ choir, they will create an impressive musical experience that unfolds the powerful sound world of this symphonic vision.
With a performance time of around 95 minutes, Mahler’s Third is his longest symphony – composed during his years as Kapellmeister in Hamburg (1891–1897). The performance is being produced in cooperation with the Gustav Mahler Association Hamburg.
