A chivalrous tournament, barking dogs, fighting cats and an apparent organist who loses himself in improvisation: in the 17th century, on the threshold between the Renaissance and the Baroque, composers like Claudio Monteverdi and Carlo Farina discovered musical effects and new playing techniques for themselves. The Europa Galante ensemble, »spirited and elegant« (Gramophone), is perfectly suited to this music.
