RETRO SPIELE CLUB HAMBURG

Das “bespielbare” Museum in Hamburg-Horn

Software from the last 50 years. It serves, among other things, the preservation of computer and gaming culture and offers a journey into the past. There is the possibility to meet in a cozy private round for events & game nights, with friends or business colleagues, for school classes, company parties, bachelor parties or even for spontaneous visits at the weekly Open House on Thursday.

The Retro Spiele Club is a playable museum with technology and computer games of the last 50 years. You can relive the history of computer games and technology at almost 50 game stations. From Pong to C64 and Amiga to consoles from Sega, Nintendo, Atari and various exotics as well as a classic PC network, you can make an educational and fun journey through time in groups (5-50 people are no problem) or alone. The location is ideal for small events or social evenings. Every Thursday we have an Open House from 6pm to 10pm, where you can of course drop by anytime.

3 years ago after long planning the Retro Spiele Club, the playable museum in Hamburg Horn was opened. Presentations at fairs, company bookings and our visitors from all areas have shown that this location has a high attraction for people of all ages and genders (the cliché of men over 35 does not apply at all, events with pupils, students and also pensioners (even children's birthday parties have already taken place) show the high interest in all social classes. Even a visitor who is blind from birth fulfills his wish for retro games of any kind almost weekly. The print and online press has already reported several times about our location.

The cultural authority writes about the museum: "After a thorough examination of the concept presented by Com Illusion GbR (owners: Patrick Becher & Robin Lösch), the Retro Spiele Club can be classified as a museum under construction, dedicated to an important part of digital popular culture. On 160sqm there are currently 50 exhibits ready to play. In addition, further equipment, an archive of historical magazines and hundreds of original games from the last 50 years have been collected. The goal of the Retro Spiele Club is to document the development of computer technology and video game culture from the 1950s to the turn of the millennium and to make it tangible. The collection is built up through targeted purchases and donations in kind from the "computer community". The collection is maintained in the museum's own workshop. In addition to the opportunity to play and try out games, the Retro Spiele Club wants to offer readings, lectures and forums for professional exchange. A podcast series, which has existed for several years, documents the good networking of the operators in the relevant scene.

Before visiting, please check the current opening hours at www.retrospielelcub.de. On some days, prior registration by e-mail (mail@retrospieleclub.de) is necessary.
