The Myth of Spain.
Igancio Zuloaga (1870 – 1945)
17.02. — 26.05.2024

The show, developed by the Kunsthalle München in cooperation with the Bucerius Kunst Forum, is the first comprehensive exhibition on the Spanish painter Ignacio Zuloaga in Germany. An international star during his lifetime, he shaped the image of Spain abroad like no other artist. This continues to have an impact today. He focused on characters who, in his view, embodied the “real” Spain: bullfighters, flamenco dancers, the simple rural population and outsiders. The exhibition brings together around 80 works from the period 1890 to 1941 from Spain, France, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Mexico, Argentina and the USA.
