After a shipwreck, little Tarzan is found and adopted by the gorilla mother Kala. His first encounter with a human turns Tarzan's world upside down. While he previously felt he belonged to his gorilla family, he falls in love at first sight with the researcher Jane, who comes to the jungle with her father. Suddenly, Tarzan is faced with a difficult decision that will affect the rest of his life: Should he stay with his ape family in the jungle or start a new life with Jane in a civilization that is foreign to him?

TARZAN is looking for his place in the world and develops from an insecure little boy into a self-confident man in the course of the musical. His inner turmoil is a central theme and makes him a complex character.
JANE PORTER arrives in the jungle as a young explorer with her father and is fascinated by her new surroundings. She shows Tarzan the human world and, despite her rationality, allows for the possibility of an adventure that takes her far away from her previous ideas and expectations.
KALA is Tarzan's foster mother and looks after him as if he were her own child. Despite the differences between the gorilla woman and her human child, she succeeds in giving Tarzan family stability and security.
KERCHAK is the leader of the gorilla group and takes his role very seriously. Tarzan is a security risk for him and, in his opinion, should not be part of the gorilla family. In the course of the story, however, he is able to accept Tarzan and finally gives him his blessing.
