Treppenviertel Blankenese

The Blankenese Treppenviertel offers its residents a delightful view of the Elbe and of the passing ships.

Blankenese is one of the most famous Elbe suburbs. The former fishing and pilot village to the west of Hamburg is located right on the Elbe and is a popular destination and residential area for wealthy citizens of Hamburg. In the famous Treppenviertel (German for staircase quartier) there are more than 5.000 stairs and some of the houses can only be reached by foot. The Treppenviertel is perfect for a romantic walk. Gaze at the smart villas, cute old fishermen's houses and picturesque alleyways and catch a wonderful glimpse of large ships and colourful sailing boats sailing gently down the Elbe. You can also find Hamburg's highest point here: the Süllberg. The view from the Süllberg terraces over the Elbe and the rivrebank down below is stunning!
