Paris, 1899. Glamour, passion and big dreams come together at the legendary Moulin Rouge. Young writer Christian falls in love with Satine, the acclaimed star of the famous nightclub. But their love is threatened when the wealthy Duke of Monroth appears. He wants to save the debt-ridden Moulin Rouge – and has clear demands in return.

Together with club owner Harold Zidler and the dazzling bohemians of Paris – including the artist Toulouse-Lautrec and the fiery dancer Santiago – Christian does everything he can to preserve the Moulin Rouge and fight for his love. Between jealousy and hope, a race against time begins.

Welcome to a world full of music, dance and emotion. Moulin Rouge! The musical transports the audience into the heart of Parisian nightlife at the turn of the century. The impressive stage combines theater, club and dance hall into one complete experience.

With over 75 songs by 165 composers, the show spans more than 160 years of music history – from Offenbach to Lady Gaga. The result is an energetic fireworks display of hits, presenting well-known songs in a new guise.

Winner of ten Tony Awards®, the production also impresses with its strong creative team: directed by Alex Timbers, with a book by John Logan, musical arrangements by Justin Levine and choreography by Sonya Tayeh.

The Theater am Großmarkt is part of the listed building of the Grossmarkthalle and is located on the waterfront of the upper harbor east of HafenCity. On site you can experience pure luxury in the Theater Lounge, where you can enjoy high-quality drinks and finger food before the performance and during the breaks. In the Open Bar in the Theatre Foyer you can immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter and enjoy your stay in the Mehr! Theatre deeply.

  • By public transport (ÖPNV / HVV) With the S3/S31 line and the bus line 3 you can reach the Theatre.
  • By car (A1 from the south) From the A1 take the A255 towards Hamburg-Centrum. Turn right after the Elbe bridges onto Billhorner Röhrendamm in the direction of Hafencity. Follow this road until Bankusstraße, turn right there.
  • By car (A1 from the west) entry via Theater Tor West via HafenCity or via Amsinckstraße to Theater Tor Nord.
  • Parking Paid parking on site (flat rate 10.00 € in cash) for both performances. Parking spaces are limited. We recommend an early arrival.
  • Admission 1,5 hours before the show starts
  • Important security notice Please plan to be at the theatre approximately one hour before the performance begins in order to avoid long waiting times at the security checkpoint and to ensure that you can take your seat in peace.

Arrival by public transport:

Take the footpath along the canal. Cross the Amsinckstraße and then via the
Lippeltstraße/Banksstraße and enter via Tor West (approx. 800 m on foot).
"METROBUS M3 Stop: LIPPELTSTRASSE
Then use the Lippeltstraße/Banksstraße entrance via Tor West (approx. 300 m on foot).
" SUBWAY 1 Stop: STEINSTRASSE
Walk via Deichtorplatz into Banksstraße until you reach the theatre car park (footpath approx. 800 m).

How do I get my ticket?

Your tickets will be sent to you by post immediately after full payment. If you book at short notice (up to seven days before the performance), you will receive your ticket directly by e-mail. Please print it out.
