On three days in late summer, experience many concerts and participatory dances between farmhouses, in the dance tent and on the orchard meadows in the Mueß open-air museum.

The apples on the trees in the orchards smell tempting. Fans of traditional and folk music cavort in the meadows, gardens and between the old farmhouses and barns of the open-air museum. Local traditional music from Mecklenburg meets traditional and innovative music from all over Europe at this festival.

Every year in late summer, the Windros Festival weekend takes place at the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum of Folklore. This year from September 6 to 8. Music lovers can listen to music on the meadow in the village school teacher's garden, in front of the stage at the shepherd's cottage or on the main stage in front of the farmhouse. Dance enthusiasts sway in the marquee at the museum café or in front of the stage at the ancient farmhouse. Everyone dances traditional circle, row and alley dances, quadrilles and couple dances together.

Members of the band MALBROOK and the Klöndör e.V. organize this festival, which is taking place for the 12th time this year, with the support of the city of Schwerin and the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The motto for 2024 is "Baltic Crossing". The Windros Festival is becoming increasingly popular. Fans and musicians from all over the world love this musical gathering: "...at this place I experience the music very authentically", "...very familiar", "...very inspiring for artists and fans".

The following artists and bands and many more are coming: Dobranotch (RUS/D), Danish Fiddle Quartet (DK), Thomas Nädler (D), Lüül (D), Cätlin Mägi (EST), Blowboys (D), PoMore TanzOrkiestra (POL/D),Kvinnolåt (SWE), Remco Sietsema & Janos Koolen (NL), Gerstenberg Family (D), Jo Freya (GB), Windros Orchestra "Baltic Crossings" (International)...

In addition to concerts and dancing fun, there will be dance workshops, playing courses for musicians, lectures, children's dancing, singing folk songs together and much more.

It traditionally starts on Friday afternoon with a dance workshop with Vivien Zeller. Many traditional dances can be learned in various dance courses at the festival. The bagpipes of the "Pipenbock Orchestra" will play at the official start of the festival. The "Piglet Ball" on Saturday afternoon - a dance event especially for children - is also a traditional event. Don't miss the festival highlights with the closing concerts on Friday and Saturday evening. And as an additional special highlight, many of the festival's artists will perform again at a three-hour matinee on Sunday.

Day tickets for individual days and tickets for the entire festival are available from the Schwerin Tourist Information Office on the market square. At www.etix.com you can only get festival tickets (no day tickets) and (limited) festival tickets including overnight stay in a tent you bring with you on the AWO grounds directly opposite the open-air museum.

Admission to the entire festival is free for children up to the age of 14.
