Wildkatzenlauf
- Running
Lace up your shoes and join this wild running event organized by BUND (German Nature and Development Organization) in the footsteps of the wildcat! The Wildcat Run takes place in Heber (Schneverdingen) on the last weekend of the Lower Saxony summer holidays – a nature conservation run for all ages that combines sport and nature awareness.
On two varied routes of approximately 4.5 and 8 kilometers, you'll run or walk through the habitats of the European wildcat in the Lüneburg Heath, which it is slowly reclaiming as it heads north. You'll follow the tracks of this rare wildcat through near-natural forest, along forest edges and moors, and through adjacent open land. You'll learn about the dangers it faces and what conservation measures BUND is implementing for it.
Children can look forward to their own lap of the sports field, where they can playfully discover the world of wild cats. A varied supporting program with information booths, cake sales, and other highlights ensures an exciting day for the whole family.
