Following a rocket-like career start within just one year of being discovered by the renowned indie label Rough Trade and three successful single releases, The Sophs from LA are finally coming to Germany in April 2026 for four club shows, including concerts in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and Cologne.

For The Sophs, it all began in September 2024, when singer Ethan Ramons sent out their first demos to his favorite labels – among them the indie giant Rough Trade. Up to this point, nothing unusual in today's music industry. However, even seasoned music industry veterans don't hear every day that Ramons would receive a response from Rough Trade founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee themselves after just one day. Travis and Lee were immediately impressed by the band's creativity, unflinching honesty, and drive. According to Ramon, signing the contract felt like "an act of complete, mutual trust." In May 2025, their first single, "SWEAT," was released. In it, the group sings about the unease of losing control, thus exploring the question of power within our own emotional landscape. As the song progresses, Ramons's powerful voice erupts until he's screaming at the top of his lungs. "SWEAT" is reminiscent of legends like The Strokes or Radiohead not only vocally, but also through Ramon's charismatic stage presence and the skillful interplay of the entire band. However, this sextet is not a typical indie rock band. Ethan Ramon, Sam Yuh (keyboards), Austin Parker Jones (electric guitar), Seth Smades (acoustic guitar), Devin Russ (drums), and Cole Bobbitt (bass) impress with their experimental approach: whether feeling at home in different genre categories, be it indie, rock, pop-punk, or even funk, or being open to explosive mood swings between loud and quiet. At the same time, they grapple with serious themes and thought spirals. Brutal honesty is one of the band's hallmarks: giving space to deeply ingrained, intrusive thoughts before they take over – that's The Sophs' credo.

In their short history, they played shows in their native western USA just one week after contacting a record label, followed by shows on the East Coast; in Europe, they performed in London and Paris in 2025, among other cities. With their eagerly awaited debut EP "GOLDSTAR," The Sophs will embark on another European tour in 2026, including four German concerts in April 2026, which should definitely be marked on your calendar.
