Accordion star Martynas Levickis travels all the way across the Atlantic and back to Europe again. He is connected to Philip Glass and Aaron Copland through shared Lithuanian roots and to George Gershwin through a fascination with jazz.
For this musical journey to North America, Levickis is joined by ideal partners in the New York-based ensemble The Knights, led by brothers Colin and Eric Jacobsen. Playful and adventurous, they, like Martynas Levickis, love blending classical music with folk and jazz elements and creating programmes charged with energy and tension. At the heart of the evening is Gershwin’s »Rhapsody in Blue«, one of the first works to bring jazz into the concert hall. Today, it is an undisputed classic.
