An evening dedicated to the violin: Symphony concertmaster Adrian Iliescu will once again be performing the traditional concertmaster recital this year together with Per Rundberg (piano), presenting a program that showcases the diversity of violin sonatas spanning three centuries. Handel's violin sonata in D major, composed around 1750, combines Baroque elegance with refined virtuosity. Beethoven lends new depth to the genre in his sonata in G major with chamber music intimacy and symphonic breath. Franck's famous Sonata in A major is considered the epitome of Romantic passion, full of harmonic colors and emotional depth. The sparkling conclusion to this musical journey through time is Maurice Ravel's virtuoso »Tzigane«, composed in the first third of the 20th century, which allows the violin to shine in all its brilliance.
