A step into the new, a circling in rhythm that grows. Change and return, dynamism and continuity. Beethoven gives sound its power, de Falla makes it leap, Ravel elevates it to euphoric rapture. A new year begins – with a concert program that unites movement, vitality, and poetic intensity.
With Beethoven’s beloved Fifth Piano Concerto, his last completed work, comes a piece that combines majestic radiance with lyrical intimacy – interpreted by the rising pianist Alexandra Dovgan, making her debut with the Symphoniker. The French conductor Pierre Bleuse, also appearing for the first time with the Laeiszhalle Orchestra, guides a program that ranges from Beethoven to southern zest for life and sonic ecstasy: de Falla’s suite from »El sombrero de tres picos« ignites Spanish temperament in rhythmic fire, while Ravel’s impressionistic »Une barque sur l’océan« evokes the vastness of the sea in shimmering tonal colours. As a final highlight, Ravel’s unrelenting »Boléro« unfolds, culminating in a hypnotic crescendo of euphoric sound.
For the 17th time, the HASPA New Year’s Concert of the Symphoniker Hamburg takes place, firmly established as a highlight of the Hanseatic city’s concert calendar. An evening that celebrates the beginning of 2026 with energy, elegance, and radiant music.
