Sünndags in de Koek Exhibition

That's how it tasted! This is how it was done back then! Historical actors anno 1900 bake and cook delicacies at the fireplace in the kitchen of the old Büdnerei.

Quickly go around the corner and buy pizza in the supermarket, then quickly put the pizza in the oven or microwave. In the past, more than 100 years ago, this did not work... In the village... In a farmhouse.

That's why historical actors dress as they did back then, use the objects of that time and cook and bake dishes in the museum rooms as they did back then. They want to show how it was back then. Slightly slower, more difficult, more natural, mostly even tastier.

The historical actors of 1900 cook and bake according to old recipes. They dress up in the peasant clothes of the past, even the rooms and objects in the rural ambience of the open-air museum are original. The performers show everyday life, some customs and traditions of that time and know many a story of the peasant families who once lived in this place.

Museum visitors can look over the shoulders of the performers as they cook and bake on several Sundays each year between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., sample some of the goodies and freshly prepared delicacies, and talk with the performers about old times.

Dates in 2023 are: May 28, June 18, Sept. 24, Oct. 29.

You can also experience the historical actors on other days. The Mueßer Gemeinschaft meets for a weekend in the summer with 30 to 40 performers from all over Germany. They then perform throughout the museum grounds and in several buildings on July 22-23. The historical actors are also welcome guests at the arts and crafts market "wintersonnenWERKE" on December 16/17 in the kitchen of the Büdnerei.
