Dance, feel and connect – a special live performance as part of the Catalunya Festival, where everyone is welcome. Cobla Sant Jordi brings the traditional Catalan Sardana dance to the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie with dancer Anna Romani.
Every Sunday, people in Barcelona dance the Sardana in public squares – a traditional circle and community dance deeply rooted in the culture and history of Catalonia. The Sardana stands for solidarity, equality, and joie de vivre – and it is precisely this feeling that will be brought to the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie.
As part of the Catalunya Festival, Cobla Sant Jordi – one of Catalonia’s most renowned ensembles – invites you to this open event. The cobla, a typical Catalan wind orchestra, captivates with its colorful soundscape. Those who would like to hear more can experience the ensemble on 15 November in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie. There, it will present a finely curated program that traces the musical development of the sardana from folk music to art song.
