"Adini - Princess Alexandrine of Prussia, her sisters and sisters-in-law"

Lecture by Rudolf Scharmann, Berlin
Alexandrine of Prussia married Hereditary Grand Duke Paul Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1822 and moved from the big city of Berlin to tranquil Ludwigslust. A lavishly furnished apartment was set up for her and her husband in Ludwigslust Palace until their wedding, which has been restored to its former glory since its reopening. Her nickname in the family was Adine or Adini, with which she signed her letters, which were addressed not least to her two sisters and her favorite sister-in-law Elisabeth, the Prussian queen.
The art historian Rudolf Scharmann was the long-time director of Charlottenburg Palace and is one of the best experts on Queen Luise of Prussia and the personal history of the Prussian court in the 19th century in general. His latest book is dedicated to the "Prussian Princesses" from the Romantic era, including Alexandrine of Prussia.
