QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1st to 31st, 2026 (www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events within the festival will bring the history (and stories) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome – Kings, Quings, Queens, Allies, Friends, (chosen) Families, and everyone in between and beyond!
Event
Explore queer historical novels over coffee and cake at the Kapitel Drei book café
“Queer literature is proof that we have always existed—in stories, in desires, in words. Novels not only give us a voice, they remind us that we are never alone.” – Unknown
For Queer History Month, the Kapitel Drei book café invites you to browse a selection of queer historical novels while enjoying a cozy cup of tea or coffee. From Highsmith to Woolf to Baldwin – queer authors have always existed, and they have always found ways to share queer stories. But it's not just the works themselves that tell a story. People who have the courage to share their truth in a world that doesn't accept it have always brought about change. Authors like Oscar Wilde and Radclyffe Hall have not only inspired new fashion trends but have also created queer visibility and public discourse.
Chapter Three aims to give queer historical classics a new platform. All books can be read or purchased on site. The cozy living room atmosphere invites visitors to browse, linger, and immerse themselves in the stories.
