In his Rising Stars recital, Pejčić celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest cellists of all time: Mstislav »Slava« Rostropovich.
Without Rostropovich, the music of the 20th century would be far poorer, for he inspired many of the era’s greatest composers to write new works for him. Among them were Dmitri Shostakovich and Sergei Prokofiev, who composed not only powerful concertos for their fellow countryman but also deeply intimate cello sonatas. Astor Piazzolla, meanwhile, dedicated his spirited »Le Grand Tango« to Rostropovich.
Petar Pejčić has established himself at the forefront of a new generation of classical musicians. The recipient of numerous awards, he appears regularly on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. A committed and versatile chamber musician, he performs with distinguished artists including James Baillieu, Janine Jansen and Friedemann Eichhorn.
