The evening begins with excerpts from Olivier Messiaen’s epoch-making »Quartuor pour la fin tu temps«, which premiered almost exactly 85 years ago, on 15 January 1941, in front of prisoners of war at the Stalag prison camp in Görlitz. Performed by musicians from the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and Florian Weber on piano. The program continues with the world premiere of »Dances From The Messiaen Moment« an original work by composer Tim Hagans that takes the musical and philosophical theories of Messiaen and brings them for the first time into the modern jazz idiom for a multi-movement journey through worlds where there is no time.
