Every summer, an extraordinary spectacle takes place off the coast of Corsica: the gathering of a mysterious species known as the devilfish or devil ray, which is threatened with extinction. Passionate marine biologists Atlantine, Matthieu, and William have made it their mission to protect these majestic Mediterranean giants. To do so, they organize a scientific expedition to gather evidence of an extraordinary gathering of devil rays. They encounter several hundred whales, sharks, and dolphins, but find only a few isolated devil rays. Over time, they begin to doubt their mission. Could the large population of devil rays be nothing more than a legend?

About the European Wildlife Film Awards (EWFA)
With the EWFA, the German Wildlife Foundation has launched a competition for the best European nature films. It is Europe’s first and only nature film award—only documentaries about European flora and fauna are eligible. There are a total of six award categories. An independent jury selects the winners in the categories of Wildlife, Biodiversity, Conservation, and Story. The audience can also rate the films. Movie-goers vote for the best short film, and their votes determine the Audience Award.
