The Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, conducted by General Music Director Omer Meir Wellber, will mark this special day with a unique concert, at which Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will honour all those who volunteer their time on the occasion of the anniversary of the German Constitution. The main work of the concert is the »Misa Criolla« by Argentine composer Ariel Ramírez, performed by members of the orchestra and the Audi Jugendchorakademie.
In this Spanish-language mass setting, the composer works with a characteristic rhythm from a different part of Argentina in each movement to make the diversity of his homeland audible. Between the movements of the mass, musical numbers will be performed with all interested visitors who have taken part in a corresponding workshop before the concert begins. This creates a lively interaction between the stage and the audience, combining art and commitment in a special way. Cohesion and community spirit can be experienced just as much as the unifying message of Ramírez’s mass setting.
