More and more elderly people are being born! How alarming! Was this foreseeable? Where did they all suddenly come from? And now, where to put them? Do they want to live forever? What use are they anymore? They can’t hear well, misplace their reading glasses, hold up the checkout line or the ATM. If they go anywhere anymore, it’s to funerals. Admittedly, getting older isn’t easy. So what can you do, apart from moping around or getting Botox injections? Plenty of answers can be found in the writings of Dieter Hildebrandt, Lily Brett, Elke Heidenreich, Hanns Dieter Hüsch, Hans Stapelfeld, Manuel Andrade, Milena Jesenska, Anthony Hopkins... Yes, yes! It might be worth pulling yourself together, leaving your comfort zone, and letting the wind blow your gray hair in your face. Much of it is a question of perspective and courage. Yes, old age is probably not for cowards. Reinventing yourself, participating, listening, breaking new ground, even if it hurts here and there. And don’t lose your sense of humor, that’s very important. You can’t do it without humor! And you can’t do it without music either!
