Laurie Anderson returns: Together with the New York jazz band Sexmob, the great avant-garde storyteller is performing again at the Elbphilharmonie. Combining sound experimentation, improvisation and storytelling, her concert promises to be a poetic and thrilling experience.
Ever since her international breakthrough with the song »O Superman«, Laurie Anderson has been one of the most influential voices in contemporary art. As a musician, composer and performance artist, she has been setting standards since the 1970s – far beyond the boundaries of music. In 2019, she curated her own »Reflektor« festival at the Elbphilharmonie and thrilled audiences with a multi-layered programme of concerts, readings and installations.
For her new project, she joins forces with Sexmob, the New York band led by slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein, known for their playful, genre-crossing jazz. Together, they bring musical worlds together – freely, humorously and with a clear artistic compass.
