The Affenfaust Gallery is opening its exhibition of the year: KNOTENPUNKT25. The most relevant urban and contemporary art of the moment can be discovered in a space covering over 1000 m². Immersive installations, large-format works, and new rooms invite visitors to immerse themselves in diverse visual worlds.
This year's highlights include a mural by Canadian artist Miss Me, who is coming to Hamburg for the opening weekend, works of art by Mr. Brainwash, MadC, Rafael Sliks, and Shepard Fairey, a live performance by Otto Baum, a production by the artist duo Coarse, and a walk-in Gesamtkunstwerk by Hamburg artist Maens.
This year's line-up includes over 40 artists from around the world, including the US, Canada, England, France, and Australia. Many up-and-coming artists will be joining established names from around the world—a perfect opportunity to discover new talent and start collecting.
A new highlight this year is that the festival will also showcase pioneering figures in Pop Art—artists whose visual language has shaped entire generations of urban art. Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Robert Indiana are key icons whose works—from a private collection—form striking points of reference to the present day. Between mass imagery and comics, language and symbols, they create a dialogue with the visual codes of street and urban art today. The works on display are also available for purchase in the context of the exhibition.
For over a decade now, KNOTENPUNKT has been curated by the Affenfaust Gallery and presents a selection of currently relevant urban art and contemporary art. The outstanding quality and breadth of the positions on display is unique in Germany and also ranks among the best internationally. The focus is always on a large group exhibition, accompanied by a diverse supporting program in the form of events, performances, installations, collaborations with local institutions, and art in public spaces.
Exclusively for the vernissage on September 12, 2025, there will be a special performance program: Among others, Otto Baum, Maens, and ilithya & Timo Johannes will present live works conceived especially for this evening—only to be experienced on this date.
