It whistles, bangs and trills. The atmosphere is at its peak when the KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg starts Edward Elgar’s march from »Pomp and Circumstance« towards the end of its Proms concerts. Standing and rhythmically waving flags, the enthusiastic audience sings along to »Land of Hope and Glory«. Almost anything that contributes to the exuberant atmosphere is allowed. Hilarity at a high level is the motto when the orchestra presents its program highlights.
