Guitar legend John Scofield returns to the Elbphilharmonie! Following his acclaimed solo performance on the venue’s fifth anniversary, the grand master can now be experienced with his top-class Long Days Quartet.
For decades, John Scofield has been one of the most influential voices in jazz – a master of bebop, blues and rock who, like no other, constantly reinvents his sound. For Scofield, jazz is not a rigid genre, but an attitude: »Jazz gives you the freedom to develop your own style and encourages you to sound like yourself.« Following his trio, duo and solo projects, the US guitarist now presents a brand new ensemble that explores his current groove compositions and sheds new light on classics from his repertoire.
A special highlight is the reunion with pianist John Medeski – a partnership that has repeatedly sparked creativity since Scofield’s cult album »A Go Go« (1998). Together with the brilliant bassist Vicente Archer and the energetic drummer Ted Poor, the result is a formation that blends funk, jazz and improvisation into an electrifying live experience.
