30 years of JAZZ OPEN HAMBURG Festival!
30 years of jazz for free and outside. A festival of Hamburg's jazz scene for the city, at one of Hamburg's most beautiful locations - Planten un Blomen. The longest-running jazz festival celebrates its anniversary with great acts and awards the Hamburg Jazz Prize for the first time at the event.
This edition will feature everything from big bands to trios from the Hanseatic city. No less than 3 XXL formations will create a lot of pressure over the two days. The NDR Bigband with trumpeter Frederik Köster, the Birdland Bigband with singer Julie Silvera and the JazzWerk with Dirk Bleese will present new programmes. Smaller musical acts such as the Marta Winnitzki Trio, Duty Free, HWKR with bassist Lisa Wulff and Warmbluetig will be there with fresh new sounds. This time, the awarding of the Hamburg Jazz Prize 2025 to Tilman Oberbeck, who will play his prize-winning concert with his trio afterwards, will take place. The festival programme also includes sounds that go far beyond jazz. The blues singer Jon Kenzie and his band will also show why he deserves a place in the festival line-up, as will the electro super-group Lord of The Amazing Panther from Berlin. The latter will be performing their unique mix of hip hop, electro, jazz and house - 100% live, improvised, electrifying and danceable! So come along and let yourself be carried away - 2 days full of great surprises.
