The collective “die brachiale – Laboratory for Dialogues in the Interstitial Space” is expanding the urban landscape at nachtspeicher23 as part of their exhibition “– j –_ u _– m –_ p _– into the strange.” Play areas on the street will mark the way. The two artists explore vacant lots and empty spaces within a three-kilometer radius of the Off-gallery. They view these non-places as spaces of possibility within the urban tension between social and commercial use. Through temporary markings, new attention is drawn to the vacant lots, creating mental space for exploration. The collective undertakes excursions and playfully traces the allure of these urban interstices.
During the exhibition period, there will also be a guided tour of St. Georg during every opening hour. For more information, see our website.
The collective was founded in Lübeck in 2021 by Mirja Schellbach and Berit Kröner. The artists take the concept of the exhibition as a playground for experiments—in part—literally. They have already explored everything from ping-pong to netball and other forms of play. They combine art and physical play to invite viewers into a shared experience and way of thinking.
An exhibition as part of the Hamburg Architecture Summer 2026.
