A professional actor in traditional 19th-century merchant costume will take you on an exciting and entertaining historical journey through time. Hamburg's pepper sacks were a special breed and once controlled the fortunes of our city. The charming spice merchant Jacob Lange will guide you past the former spice warehouses and along the picturesque canals through his former workplace.
Afterwards, you'll visit the Spice Museum, where you'll get an intensely fragrant impression of what was once stored, traded, and sold in the storehouses. From anise to cinnamon, from chili to vanilla – we'll inform you about the origin, cultivation, and processing of these spices and herbs. During a half-hour presentation, you'll learn a great deal about the effects of the plants that grow in your home garden or in exotic regions.
Afterwards you will have the opportunity to try over 100 different spices/herbs.
