An evening brimming with color, sonic diversity, and chamber-musical sophistication: From the elegant, classically light motifs of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Divertimento in B-flat major, K. 439b, through the impressionistically inspired lines of Charles Koechlin, to Beethoven’s powerful quintet, a rich panorama of styles and moods unfolds. After the intermission, Paul Taffanel and Anton Reicha bring the wind instruments together in virtuoso dialogues, full of verve, harmony, and surprising twists. A concert that brings the wind instruments to life in all their expressiveness and celebrates the vibrant poetry of the instruments.
