Albrecht Mayer is one of the great stars of the oboe. His speciality is music specially arranged for his instrument. For their Christmas concert, the Hamburger Camerata and the Berlin Philharmonic’s principal oboist bring a selection of seasonal favourites to the table: Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, the Pastorale from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, heartfelt arias by Bach and Handel, and a festive Divertimento by Mozart. The concert is conducted by Italian conductor Gianluca Febo, a close friend of both the Hamburger Camerata and the soloist. You cannot have more Christmas, more feeling or more oboe than this.
