After the acclaimed St. Matthew Passion last year, the Gaechinger Cantorey returns to the Elbphilharmonie under the direction of its artistic leader Hans-Christoph Rademann with a special program as part of their »VISION.BACH« project. Through this long-term initiative, the ensemble of the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart is dedicating itself over several years to the unique cantata cosmos of Johann Sebastian Bach. In the 2023/24 season, they already performed Bach’s entire first Leipzig cantata cycle in chronological order – exactly 300 years after its original premiere in Leipzig.
This time, with Bach expert Rademann and top-class soloists, the Gaechinger present works that Bach composed for the post-Christmas season. Music and text, deeply intertwined in spiritual reflections ranging from doubt and sorrow to sheer joy and celestial sounds – Bach’s cantata treasures once again promise an outstanding listening experience.
