Finkenwerder’s musical heritage takes center stage as well, with choirs, classical music, jazz, and rock providing a diverse soundtrack across the entire island.
If you are looking to experience the river island in an active and dynamic way, this year's program features some brand-new highlights: TuS Finkenwerder invites you to try out "taster sailing sessions," where you can take the helm and experience water sports firsthand. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, just unroll your mat on the idyllic community orchard – where yoga under the apple trees offers the perfect peaceful getaway surrounded by nature.
A centerpiece of this year's Deichpartie is the St. Nikolai Church. Alongside the youth club and a humorous bilingual Low German/High German church service, very special moments await: during the popular "pop-up weddings," couples can get married or have their relationship blessed on the spot in just 30 minutes – sparkling wine and cake included. Right next door on the church grounds, Stacksignale e.V. will host a vibrant music program in the festival tent and invites you to find your rhythm at a cajon workshop.
The journey continues to the traditional fruit orchards, which will transform into bustling marketplaces filled with arts and crafts over the weekend. Guided tours offer deep insights into local agriculture, while you can fuel up with regional food and drinks as numerous musical acts perform right among the apple trees.
Finally, pure maritime flair awaits you at the Kutterhafen (historic cutter harbor). Here, historic ships invite you on board for tours and boat trips on the Elbe River. Docked right in the middle is the cultural ship "MS Altenwerder," featuring a broad music program and refreshments at the ship's own bar. Right by the waterfront, many local artists and craftsmen will display their work, ready for a cozy chat.
