Dancing traditional circle, lane and chain dances together on the floorboard of an ancient farmhouse with Ralf Gehler as dance master and band.
Attention! Dance evening with few seats and a lot of addictive potential!
Who comes to one of these infamous dance evenings on the floorboard of Hufe 5 simply MUST dance along or is simply carried away. Musicians play on stage, dance master Ralf Gehler announces each dance beforehand and step by step during the dance.
"Beginners need not be afraid. All dances are very varied and therefore always new even for advanced dancers. In the beginning, many are still disoriented, uncertain. But there is always a safe hand left or right. And then it is always fun to see how everyone always safely finds each other. The longer the musicians play, the more harmoniously it develops - this up and down, left and right, around, back and forth, laughing and whooping - seemingly endlessly it moves through the whole hall. When the music suddenly stops, everyone screams with joy.
This gives us a sense of how the peasants used to dance in the village, usually on the floorboard of the largest barn in the village. And because such a village feast or a wedding celebration was such a great change in the dreary and difficult everyday life of the farmers, they celebrated exuberantly and long-lasting," says folklorist and musician Ralf Gehler.
Los goes it on this dance evening already starting from 17:00 o'clock with a led dance workshop to 18:30 o'clock. In former times often together one danced - not only pairwise. Everyone on the dance floor moved with each other in a circle or in a row or in an alley or in groups of four, six or eight criss-crossing the entire area of the hall or barn. Swapping partners, changing places, spinning, hopping, hooking, spinning, unhooking, jumping, toward each other, away from each other, making the ladies circle, pinching the men, clapping three times and spinning and walking and galloping through the alley and stomping at the end... Everything has a certain order, but it doesn't have to be perfect. The focus is on the fun of dancing together.
The newly acquired knowledge can be applied afterwards from 7 pm at the "Dance on Hooves 5" together with somewhat experienced and still inexperienced dancers and dancers.
Exuberant, swinging and full of joie de vivre, everyone dances through this summer night.
