Arrested Denial were formed in Hamburg at the end of 2009. Musically, the band represents street punk with catchy melodies and occasional offbeats. Content-wise—with lyrics now exclusively in German—the band focuses on melancholic self-reflection and clear political statements. Following the EP "Church on Friday," self-released in 2010 and available for free download, Mad Butcher Records released their second album, "Our Best Record So Far," in early 2013. A split 7" with the Serbian punk rock band The Bayonets followed in December of the same year. Their current album, "Frei.Tal," was finally released in July 2017. As with its predecessors, the album received overwhelmingly positive reviews in fanzines such as Ox and Plastic Bomb, as well as on many online portals.

In the two and a half years following the release of "Frei.Tal," over 100 concerts followed. In June 2017, Arrested Denial also went on a two-week tour of China, playing in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, among other places. This was the Hamburg band's second major international trip, following their two-week, several thousand-kilometer tour of the Balkans in 2013. A 16-day European tour with Street Dogs followed in 2018, and another two-week European tour with Angelic Upstarts followed in 2019. All band members had already performed in related subgenres before Arrested Denial: Singer Valentin with the hardcore band This Belief, guitarist Sascha with the Oi! combo In Vino Veritas, and drummer Daniel with the indie punk band Die Kleinen Götter. Bassist Timo has also shaped the Hamburg punk scene for many years with his bands Small Town Riot and Highschool Nightmare. In addition to touring, Arrested Denial has played numerous other shows in recent years. Among them was a personal invitation from the Broilers on their Noir tour in 2015, as well as with bands such as the Adolescents, Los Fastidios, Menace, Sick Of It All, Rantanplan, Kassierer, Dritte Wahl, The Oppressed, and Agnostic Front. Numerous festival appearances have also been scheduled, including the Rebellion Festival in Amsterdam, Back To Future in Glaubitz, and the Czech festival Pod Parou.
