Canzu Arat & Giovanni Weiss
give Brazilian lifestyle

When jazz tradition meets young, fresh expressiveness and an exceptional voice, music is created that touches and inspires: Giovanni Weiss & Cansu Arat

This evening, the duo will dedicate themselves to well-known and popular classics of Brazilian Bossa Nova and Antônio Carlos Jobim , the composer of world hits such as "Girl from Ipanema", "Chega de Saudade", "Triste", "Wave", and many others, in addition to some jazz standards.

Guitarist and Echo Jazz Award winner Giovanni Weiss seeks the depth of soul in every note, carrying the music directly to the heart of the audience. His collaborations with renowned musicians such as the NDR Bigband, Till Brönner, Randy Brecker, and Pat Martino have brought him international acclaim. Alongside him is the young Turkish singer Cansu Arat , whose warm, powerful voice has already captivated audiences at festivals like ELBJAZZ and Jazz Open and who has performed in Istanbul's most prestigious jazz clubs. Since beginning her jazz studies in Hamburg in 2021, she has established herself as one of the most exciting voices of the new generation and is currently a member of the vocal ensemble of the German National Youth Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO).

As a duo, Weiss and Arat unite two worlds: deep roots in a decades-long tradition and the fresh energy of a young, exceptional voice that interprets jazz without boundaries. Their interplay is touching, intense, full of emotion and cultural diversity – music that has an immediate impact and takes the audience on a journey between intimacy and virtuosity, right into the heart of the Brazilian spirit.
