In 2026, John Coltrane – one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time – would have turned 100. He first rose to fame playing alongside the trumpeter Miles Davis and his own albums, such as »Giant Steps« and »A Love Supreme«, ensured his place in history. To mark the anniversary, the Branford Marsalis Quartet, together with the powerful-voiced singer Dianne Reeves, invites you to a tribute concert in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall.
Together, they perform tracks from the acclaimed album that John Coltrane released in 1963 with the singer Johnny Hartmann – the version of the jazz standard »Lush Life« featured on the album was even inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000. No one interprets this music with as much feeling as five-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves, who is making her Elbphilharmonie debut in this concert.
With the Branford Marsalis Quartet, Reeves also has one of the finest jazz bands of all time at her side. For 40 years now, the ensemble has shaped the scene with its own compositions and interpretations of well-known jazz numbers. To mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary Coltrane album »A Love Supreme«, the quartet recorded a new interpretation of the entire album.
