Described as »the most influential jazz pianist of the last 20 years« (The New York Times), Brad Mehldau has made his mark on the international jazz scene with his distinctive sound, thoughtful musicality and ability to seamlessly blend jazz, classical and pop.
Please note: The masterclass will be held in English.
As part of his Reflektor Festival at the Elbphilharmonie, Mehldau is now offering an insight into his artistic workshop. In a public masterclass, he will work with students from the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, allowing the audience to witness how he develops musical ideas, makes improvisational decisions and thinks about the architecture of a piece.
Mehldau draws on a wealth of experience: from intimate solo performances to legendary trio recordings and large-scale orchestral works. For young musicians, this encounter with one of the great creators of contemporary jazz is a unique opportunity to gain immediate inspiration and professional feedback.
Brad Mehldau can be experienced in all his facets at his Reflektor Festival: as a soloist, in a duo, with a big band or orchestra, as a gifted performer, composer and improviser.
