Next May, everyone will be celebrating Udo Lindenberg’s 80th birthday – and the Harbour Front Literature Festival is already getting started: Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre and Jan Delay are getting the city of Hamburg, and indeed the whole country, in the mood for the extensive festivities in honour of the best and most important German-language songwriter. So it’s time to get the party started with an evening of songs and lyrics by Udo – and, of course, lyrics about him. Stuckrad-Barre and Delay have been preparing for this evening since their early childhood: »We learned to speak, write and sing through Udo’s songs and, above all, through his lyrics. And everything about love, nights and partying. In short: life.«
