An evening that lets us feel the shimmering heat of southern Spain, characterized by passion, emotion, and an energetic rhythm. A sonic journey through the culture and soul of Andalusia. Experience the three faces of flamenco with singer Juan Cárdenas, dancer Anna Castillo , and guitarist Nikos Tsiachris : song, dance, and guitar – spanning from tradition to modernity.
The golden age of flamenco began in the mid-19th century. The guitar became its main instrument, and it rose to become one of the most beloved and popular genres. For many, it is a symbol of identity not only for the region but for all of Spain, and in 2010 it was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Juan Cárdenas, Nikos Tsiachris, and Anna Castillo share the art of flamenco as a common passion. It's an art form established in Andalusian tablaos, and one that, like these three artists, must know and truly feel in order to create it. It cuts to the core when it springs from the deepest recesses of the soul. Then, the demonic duende takes possession of all who surrender to flamenco.
Through diverse combinations of dance, singing, cajon and guitar, the artists let us feel the musical heartbeat of Andalusia for an entire evening and share in their great passion.
Anna Castillo (Dance)
Juan Cárdenas (vocals and cajon)
Nikos Tsiachris (Flamenco guitar)
