The exhibition focuses on the memories and associated places of Hamburg residents from the GDR. They came to Hamburg via different routes and at different times. Through their stories, even places like the main train station take on new meanings.
Four interactive listening stations bring these witnesses' personal memories to life. Topics such as freedom, arrival in a new society, and the challenges of experiencing dictatorship are addressed and offer space for reflection. At a hands-on station, visitors can actively participate in the exhibition and take a stand on issues of democracy, freedom, and dictatorship.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a panel discussion on October 1. Guided tours and supplementary workshops for school classes will also be offered.
