For their major show »Chimes of Freedom«, the two global stars combine their boundless passion for compelling music with their commitment to challenging discrimination and oppression. To Youssou NDour, Angélique Kidjo is like a sister, with whom he now finally shares the stage: »We often dreamed of it, but our schedules never allowed it until now. Hand in hand, we are now working on our most powerful songs for our audience.«
The title of the tour refers to Bob Dylan’s legendary song »Chimes of Freedom«, a piece that has come to symbolise universal freedom, solidarity and humanity, and which Youssou NDour has previously interpreted in his own versions. Both Kidjo and NDour are recipients of prestigious international awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, and are widely regarded as ambassadors of African music on the world stage.
