Advent concert trombone quartet OPUS 4 Leipzig.
The trombone quartet Opus 4, with trombonists from the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Halle State Orchestra, was founded in 1994. Today, the ensemble consists of Jörg Richter, former principal trombonist at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Dirk Lehmann from the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Florian Zerbaum, principal trombonist at the Kassel State Theater, and Wolfram Kuhnt, bass trombonist with the Halle State Orchestra. The Jürgen Voigt company from Markneukirchen built the baroque trombones for the OPUS 4 ensemble. The program promises a joyful and contemplative Advent and Christmas concert with wonderful chorales and variations on well-known Christmas carols. Works arranged for trombones by Monteverdi, Bach, Schütz, and Palestrina will be performed, among others. A highlight is certainly Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor for four trombones.
