Paradox Museum Hamburg

Edutainment = interactive learning + fun

The Paradox Museum offers experiential entertainment that allows visitors to playfully explore paradoxes and optical illusions. Across 1,300 square metres of exhibition space, they are immersed in interactive themed rooms that combine the laws of physics with the aesthetics of contemporary art.

Creativity, entertainment and physics - the Paradox Museum as a science centre

A world full of illusions awaits visitors to the Paradox Museum: Depending on your perspective and position in the room, you appear to float effortlessly on the ceiling, are suddenly twice as tall as your companions or are sitting split on a sofa.

Highlights include the Zero Gravity Room, in which visitors have the impression of gliding weightlessly through space, and the Camouflage Room, which gives the illusion of being invisible. In addition, the Paradox Tunnel creates a sensory illusion that makes even simply walking in a straight line a surprisingly difficult task.

Flagship Hamburg - the location on Alter Wall creates its own reference to the Hanseatic city

Some rooms were designed especially for the Hamburg location: The Reverse Room is dedicated to Sankt Pauli and literally turns the familiar perspective of the Reeperbahn upside down. The Ames Room, inspired by Hamburg's maritime tradition, creates the illusion that you are growing and shrinking while travelling along the Elbe.

From 2025, special exhibitions by local artists will enrich the programme to deepen the connection to Hamburg's art scene and focus on optical illusions in art. The museum's colourful rooms stimulate visitors' creativity and offer numerous opportunities to create photos and videos in order to capture the fascinating impressions and insights.
