One block away
Not far from the fish market is the next attraction that is simply part of a city trip to Hamburg. The Reeperbahn is probably the most famous street in Hamburg, where bars, discos and theatres line up in succession. This lively quarter is also worth a visit during the day, and has many souvenir shops. The most popular clubs on the Reeperbahn are at Große Freiheit, Hamburger Berg and Hans-Albers-Platz. They attract tourists from afar with their glowing lettering. Tip: Why not combine a visit to a musical or theatre with an excursion the Reeperbahn afterwards? Many theatres and musicals are nearby.
Historical and cultural Hamburg
A short trip to Hamburg's Speicherstadt represents a great contrast to the party atmosphere at the Reeperbahn. Visitors can explore this historic warehouse complex either on foot or by boat. With its many narrow lanes and red brick houses, the Speicherstadt shapes the cityscape of Hamburg. It, in turn, is enriched by a special highlight: the Elbphilharmonie, which was built in HafenCity and is regarded as the city's new landmark. Visitors to Hamburg should not miss a trip to the Alster, which can be explored with by bus. Other destinations are Hamburg's Michel, which you can also climb. If you want to see exhibitions and museums, the Miniatur Wunderland with the world's largest model railway is perfect. But Hamburg has much more to offer culturally than just that. The International Maritime Museum and the Museum of Hamburg History are two excellent destinations. Our museum page includes detailed information about Hamburg's exhibitions and museums and gives you ideas for planning highly individual visits.
Hamburg Harbour - Gateway to the World
Don't neglect the port of Hamburg when you visit the Hanseatic city. See the jetties and enjoy the harbour panorama as well as the container and cruise ships. You can go on a harbour tour and get detailed information and impressions about the "Gateway to the World". If you want to go to the Elbe, you can take the HADAG harbour ferries (lines 61, 62, 64) to the beach very inexpensively. You'll get the pure summer feeling! With its nice cafés and beach bars, the Elbe beach attracts many locals and tourists in the summer. It could be a great conclusion of a 3-day Hamburg trip.
Tip: With the Hamburg CARD you get many discounts, e.g. to museums or for harbour tours.
