By far the most unusual café in Hamburg can be found in Ottensen: das or die Laundrette - the Hamburg vernacular does not always agree. Translated, the name means "laundromat" and not without reason - you can actually do your laundry here.
The café has a total of ten washing machines; in the evening, the café becomes a bar. The special feature of the concept is, however, not only the merging of a café, bar and laundry, but the sustainable basic idea that the Laundrette represents: whether it’s green electricity, milk from local farmers or energy-saving washing machines - sustainability is front and centre here. While you drink your Italian "Espresso Al Banco" (a quick espresso while standing at the counter) and wash your laundry in and energy-saving washer, you can consider what you want to drink next: In the Laundrette bar - in addition to tried-and-tested classics - guests can choose to individually mixed drinks (e.g. gin with a soft drink of their choice).
