Michael Ruff gave the store its name, which is an allusion to the much more famous London chain Rough Trade. Following short-lived trends is not Ruff Trade's business idea - what comes into the store is what's good: between jazz and rock, classics and obscurity, and often enough the single that you've been looking for forever, or the half-forgotten one that you only remembered.
