Most of the exhibits can also be touched here; the fate and everyday life of the workers in earlier times are depicted vividly. Coffee bags, rubber bales and much more can be discovered here. Equally exciting is the Spicys Gewürzmuseum, where you can taste and smell all kinds of exotic spices. This is also interesting for children and almost as exciting as a visit to the Hamburg Dungeon, which offers the right creepy factor for children aged 12 and over. In Dialogue in the Dark, one can experience the world from the perspective of non-sighted people in complete darkness.

Discover sights during a guided tour

If you really want to understand the fascination of the Speicherstadt and the futuristic plans for the HafenCity behind it, entrust yourself to one of the numerous tour organisers. Every Saturday at 3 p.m. (March to October) and every Sunday at 11 a.m. (all year round), the Speicherstadt Museum offers the tour "Speicherstadt - Tradition and Change" including a guided tour of the museum. The meeting point is always in the museum. A particularly interesting option is the night watchman tour with Volker Roggenkamp, which also includes a visit to the Gewürzmuseum (spice museum). Every Saturday at 8.30 p.m. the tour starts at the Kehrwiederspitze exit of the Baumwall subway station.

See more with the Explorer Ticket

For € 15, you will be guided through the Speicherstadt with torches for approx. 2 hours and get an entertaining tour. If you want to get to know all of Hamburg, it's best to go on a discovery tour. With the Explorer Ticket you can explore the city on a city tour, Alster tour and harbour tour. The tours are conducted in German and English and can be freely planned on three days. Tickets are available from € 30.
